The Prince Claus Awards Ceremony, Amsterdam

Prince Claus Fund (PCF) held its annual award ceremony on 3rd and 4th December 2019 at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. Most partners of the PCF were invited to attend the lavish festivities which were held to honour 7 exceptional women from the Global South.

CEO, Heritage Foundation attended the ceremonies along with taking part in a special meeting organized on 2nd December 2019 by Heritage Foundation’s long-term partners “Cultural Emergency Response” of Prince Claus Fund, headed by Deborah Stolk.

INTBAU International Conference and Workshops 2019, as well as, the INTBAU Training and Resource Centre was inaugurated by HE President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi. On which occasion HRH Prince of Wales sent a video message. Robert Adam, Chair INTBAU, introduced the video message to the audience.

INTBAU Pakistan Conference on Green Sustainable Architecture

A rare gathering of experts in Heritage and humanitarian architecture from around the world, and a galaxy of professionals from Pakistan, took place 14^th to 17th November 2019. The conference titled “Earth and Heritage Calling: The case of Maki ad Karachi” was hosted by INTBAU Pakistan and Heritage Foundation of Pakistan.

Architect Yasmeen Lari delivered a lecture on “Barefoot Social Architecture for Social & Ecological Justice” at Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture on 27 September 2019.

Keynote presentation at Vienna Biennale for Change, 2019

Architect Yasmeen Lari was invited as a keynote speaker at Vienna Biennale for Change on September 6th, 2019. The Biennale draws attention to creative ideas and projects from the fields of art, design, and architecture that can help improve the world. The conference focused on the theme of Changing Values.

Rains in Makli areas particularly related to DICE villages

Due to unprecedented rainfall in August, when the entire province had been inundated, most of the Makli villages are still under floodwater. This has resulted in a great deal of damage within villages and caused a stoppage of work due to inundation and blockage of roads. The main cause of the flooding has been the water coming down from Makli Necropolis hill as well as the over-flowing of the nearby canal. All the villages in the vicinity have been submerged or washed away; however,  the structures built by HF in DICE and other HF villages have withstood the standing floodwater in the area for several weeks. Since the structures were safe, the villages were able to save their belongings. Being unable to continue working under such circumstances, those belonging to DICE villages have been encouraged to work at ZC3 for their livelihood.
