Community Centre designed by YL—one of the standout projects featured in Monisse’s Monocle article, “We Need to Talk About Architecture. At this year’s Venice Biennale, a few nations got the message.” The structure, unveiled by Qatar Museum explores how hospitality and inclusivity inform architectural spaces across the Middle East and South Asia—highlighting the region’s deep-rooted cultural values through contemporary design.

During the pre-opening events of the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, led a series of landmark ceremonies, discussions, and celebrations on May 8, culminating in the unveiling of Community Centre — a temporary installation designed by architect Yasmeen Lari and the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan.

A Celebration of Craft and Sustainability at Heenat Salma Farm- Heenat Salma Farm proudly opens its latest exhibit, “Built by Many Hands, a Pavilion’s Tale”, a moving homage to traditional craftsmanship, community effort, and environmentally conscious design. At the heart of the exhibit is the 6 LOG Cluster, an innovative structure developed by the Heritage Foundation, showcasing sustainable construction techniques rooted in vernacular architecture.

In a refreshing step towards sustainable urban spaces, the newly inaugurated Clifton Sabz Gali is already drawing enthusiastic crowds. Developed by HF, this vibrant eco-street features green installations, pedestrian-friendly design, and community-focused aesthetics. Adding a heartfelt touch to the festivities, a local blind girl serenaded visitors with her soulful singing, earning admiration and applause from onlookers. Sabz Gali stands as a symbol of inclusive, sustainable progress in the heart of the city.

Architect Yasmeen Lari was introduced by AIA Gold Medalist Dean Deborah Burke. Lari delivered a 45 minute Paul Rudolph Annual Public lecture to a packed hall and overflow areas in the iconic Paul Rudolph school of architecture building. The audience consisted of admission aspirants, students and faculty members belonging to different fields at Yale University as well as a large online audience. The lecture was extremely well received with an extensive question and answer session. The post lecture reception was well attended by all participants. Later a dinner was held in her honour. It was hosted by Dean Burke and consisted of famous architects from New Haven, New York and the Bay Area.

The inauguration of the first bamboo mosque, “Ar-Rahman”, in Zero Donor Village, Tando Waglio, Mir Pur Khas district, marks a new chapter of faith, community, and sustainability. Made possible through the generous donation of Mr. Shahzad, this mosque symbolizes hope and unity. It is the first of many to be built in the coming months.
